Had a brief skim through it, looks good. Think it will work with FCP? Heard the panasonic had some issues there, though the HD update might have fixed that.
Video didn't kill the cinema star .... yet.
Sony HDR-FX1
and it still uses iLink aka IEEE1394 aka FireWire.

Wow that looks good, and a lot less in costs compared to the JVC HD cam. The only gripe I've got with it is that it's too small - people tend to take you more seriously with bigger cams. Let's just hope the converting to the mac/pc goes without problems and I've got a new cam I'm going to rent when filming my uber projects.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">FYI - That's the same chasis as the PD150 and 170's. The PD150's are the cameras that the reporters took to Iraq. Also, notice the silver pins below the lens... that's for a 1/2 rail system for mounting professional matte boxes, filters, anamorphic lenses, etc. If you're worried about not looking professional, mount a $1,000 of pro accessories on the front. One thing though... the XLR jacks are conspicuously absent, and there's no reference to input jacks for external mics. Sony wouldn't skimp on a feature like that, would they?!
the sony's not out until November, but since it seems to be using standards across the board, and FCP 4.5/HD is totally geared for 1080i I don't see why it wouldn't work. but who knows ...
most first generation tech is worth avoiding unless you enjoy pain, but for a 'consumer' camcorder the sony looks pretty good.
i've yet to actually see HDTV in "real life" but I hear it looks great. IIRC the 1440 x 1080 resolution is about two-thirds the resolution of 35mmm, in terms of translating to pixels.
"With U.S. sales of HDTV sets exploding..."
When are we going to see them over here? I've heard it said that the picture quality is 'amazing' but don't know of anybody that has actually seen one for real.

That's gonna be a pain for keying. Thanks, but I stick to my DVW-700WSP. But the price is good.
for me, I'd have to include the price of a new Mac, and Final Cut Pro upgrade from Express.
Certainly be interested in seeing the results of Magic Bullet Plugin with the footage.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I missed that. That's pretty sucky, editing GOPs can just get ugly. Could be one reason it's aimed at consumers only.Originally posted by assyrix:
